Problems ingesting 720p60 footage from Panasonic P2 card

Having some issues transcoding 720p60 footage from Panasonic HVX300. I'm using FCP7's log and transfer window and transcoding to ProRes HQ. FCP drops frames during transcoding, resulting in a pretty jerky looking footage. No problems with 1080 60i or other frame rates and the 720p60 footage plays fine off the camera when connected to an SDI monitor.

I'm using the latest MacPro Quad tower w/8 GBs of RAM.

Any suggestions as to what may be the issue here?

Thanks

720p60 footage from Panasonic HVX300

Panasonic doesn't make a HVX300. It does sell a HVX200a, and HPX300.

In any case, ClipWraps works with mts files, not mxf files from p2 cards where either DVCProHD or AVCINTRA has been recorded.

It would be helpful if you could accurate indicate what cam is being used, and also what preferences settings you have established in the log and transfer window.

What David said...ClipWrap won't work for P2 footage.

FCP doesn't drop any frames when you use Log and Transfer. All it does is wrap the MXF files into a QT wrapper, and marry Audio and Video. Zero quality loss. Well, with DVCPRO HD and when you bring in AVCIntra native. When it transcodes, it does convert, but really shouldn't leave out frames. Try bringing in the footage native and see if it acts the same.

AND...do you have a capture card and external monitor to watch what is REALLY happening when you play the footage? The Canvas is not the best place to judge the quality of your footage. Viewer either.
