Gigabit Ethernet - 13inch Macbook (2003)

Hi,

I am trying to figure out whether my macbook has a Gigabit Network Interface Card. The system profiler says I have a Marvell Yukon Gigabit Adapter 88E8053 Singleport Copper SA but cant find any info about what this means.

Any help much appreciated.

It says that it is a gigabit adapter so the natural assumption is that it supports gigabit speed.

You need cat 5E or cat 6 cables to run gigabit speed.

Every MacBook and MacBook Pro model, from the very first ones released in 2006 (not 2003) has had gigabit ethernet.
