water damage to keyboard?

I was washing my keyboard with a wet rag, and I think I either pressed down on it too hard or a little bit of water got in it and now about 5 of my letters don't work. Is there any solution to this? Or do I just have to get a new keyboard?

I have a similar problem--a leak from upstairs got water on my keyboard and now over half the keys, including the spacebar and the shift don't work. It was in a bag with some raw rice for about 2 weeks and no improvement. The keyboard is only about 2 years old, and it seems like repair ought to be possible, instead of having to purchase a new one. I tried asking Apple Support, but the system refuses to recognize the serial number of the keyboard, so I'm stumped. Any advice?

Carolyn,

If the bag of rice didn't dry out all the water then it's ruined and needs to be replaced. Go to www.macsales.com and they sometimes have used ones or you will need to buy a new one. If you shop around a bit you may find one at a discount, try Amazon, Ebay, LA Computer Company etc.. Forget about fixing it though, that is a total waste of time. liquids and electronics just don't go together. Consider yourself lucky it was only a keyboard and not the whole computer being ruined by the water leak. If you made an insurance claim on the leak you should be able to get the keyboard covered too.
