Welcome to the Support Communities. Apple's Warranty does not apply to accident, misuse, abuse, etc. Read more here:

Had the same problem. Called Apple Support and they mentioned it would be possible, even opened a customer service protocol (226342277). They informed me to take it to the nearest Apple service provider, which i did.

Getting there, they said it was impossible to replace it, that i would need to buy a brand new ipad!!!!

Amazing is that after i went to an unnoficial service place, and they have changed it for me... So do not wais your time going to official Apple service.

My Ipad 2 was dropped on the ground accidently a few days ago and its screen was cracked. I went an apple store for help yesterday and was told to pay $299 for a replacement. I was shocked and It's absolutely ridiculous. Who would pay that much money only for a cracked screen?

I heard some people get a free replacement but I don't believe it's ture. How can Apple treat its customers unequally?

I will never purchase any Apple's products. Bye Apple.

Bought my first apple product last month. Same thing happened when it slid down an airline seat and cracked as it hit the floor. Took it into apple and they said they couldn't do anything but swap it for a refurbished on which would cost me 475.00 dollars. I guess this will be my first and only. I could purchase 5 Samsung tablets for the price of an original iPad plus repair. Great surprise after only having the iPad for a month. Buyer beware

I been there and did all that its crazy how much apple charges for the service your actually paying for another ipad not a screen replacement. I dont know if i can post this on here but you could try replacing the screen yourselft or send it in to many of the online mail in repair services companies online. This is what I did and I found these guys called igadget resq and they charged me $115 for a screen replacement and they have free shipping back to you too! they got me my ipad like new in 24-48 hrs amazing service! look them up google them.

So, you buy a new car and you drive it (by accident of course) into a wall and the front bumper is destroyed. Would you expect the car manufacturer to give you a new car? Of course not. You damaged it, why would you expect it to be replaced for free? The same is true for just about any product you purchase. You break it, you pay. I bought a brand new Nikon D3100 DSLR camera several months ago. I dropped it. It broke. I bought a new camera. I never for a moment expected Nikon to give me a new camera. You have no right to expect Apple to give you a new iPad either.

It's not for a cracked screen. They give you a new iPad.

It is most certainly "ture." I've seen it happen before my very eyes. As Johnathan Burger stated, it depends on the kindheartedness of the manager. It's not you, it's them.

And you created a user account just to tell us that. How nice of you. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, and I hope you find the policy on an Android or Windows phone to be a lot better (good luck with that).

And you also have to remember, you dropped it. If Apple handed out freebies, I'd start throwing my iPhones and iPads against the wall and then run over to Apple to pick up some new ones, and then keep doing it over and over.
