My iPhone 4 wont go into headphones mode, what should I do?

I have an iPhone 4 and it wont go into headphones mode when I plug my headphones in. I have tested many types of headphones, so its not the headphones that dont work. Has anyone experienced this before? Do you know how to fix it? Really need some help here! Thanks 🙂
