Q: Clarification on permission sets

Hello All,

I'm working on setting up our Final Cut Server and have a question.

I have setup a user and a group that the user has been placed in.  That all works fine, but I want to refine it.  When "User A" logs in, I want them to ONLY see two metadata fields, Category and Status.  Currently "User A" sees ALL fields in the search window, but can only change values in these two fields.  But like I said, I don't want them to see anything but those two fields.

So I log into the client app as a admin, then go to the Administration window, then select the "Permission Set" choice on the left hand side.  Then double click on the "reviewer" set.  On the left side I see Modify, Asset Filter, Production View Filter and Production Filter.  Question is, can I change these items by making a custom metadata group with only the two fields that I want them to see?  If I try to create a new permission set I only get the default items, can you modify these?

A'm I even going about this in the correct method?  Any help would be great!!

Thanks

John

Unfortunately you can't select which fields a user is able to modify and which not (you can make a field Not Editable but for ALL users). In FCS is all or nothing but only on which assets the user can or cannot see and if he can modify or not ALL fields of the assets he sees.

The reviwers can't modify ANY fields on the assets they see.

And I think you can't create a custom metadata group within "Permission Set" screen. You can add or remove fields from the default groups if you want to.

    Hope this help
