how do you run 64 bit in Logic?
Just wondering how to run 64 bit. I understand it makes plug ins easier to use
Logic Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7), quad core intel

Does 64 bit buy any improvement?
Yes...and no.
For starters, in 64-bit mode you won't "hear" any improvement in "sound" quality per se, but Logic is no longer limited to 4 GB of RAM. So if you have more than 4 GB installed, you will still increased processing performance which is huge.
However, the downside is that not all plug-ins are 64-bit compatible, so they won't run in this mode. However, you can open Logic files in both 32 and 64-bit modes, despite whatever "mode" they were originally created in. So theoretically you could run your plugins in 32 bit, bounce them, and then reopen the project in 64 bit.
There are other things that are both enabled and disabled when running in 32bit and 64 bit modes.

This is not really true. 32 bit plugs work in 64 bit mode using the 32 bit bridge., which opens automatically whenever you use 32 bit plugs in a 64 bit song. There is no need to do any bouncing between modes. It basically works fine, but the bridge has a tendency to crash, although this does not affect saving the song, so it's not such a big deal, and the GUI is very clunky at present, requiring swapping between Logic and the bridge to do simple things like copy and paste setups. There may be the occasional plug in that still has problems with the bridge, but I think everything is working OK with it at this point
