Amazing, what happened? Did Mac suddenly decide to knock the whole thing on the head, after all Express was an excellent deal. Does that mean we'll all be heading for another (cheaper) unit to do what we need in music? I have't looked over the new Logic programs, but my Logic X 8 worked (still works i hope) no problem, and I'm very happy with it. I've just had to buy a new computer and noticed many complaints about Logic X 8 not working on Lion, however mine just installed and worked fine ..... untill now, anyhow and keeping my fingers crossed 😐!

A full license for Logic Express was $199.99. Apple have now discontinued LE and Logic Studio and are selling Logic Pro via the app store for $199.99. The exact same price that LE was selling for, and you get several instruments and plugins that were not included in LE. Not to mention getting all the jam packs that sold for $99 each and are no longer available outside of Logic Pro.

The only issue that I can see for any long-time Express user is that there is no upgrade path from LE to Logic Pro now. But LE upgrades used to cost $99.99. Now for $199.99 you get the whole enchilada and will be able to upgrade in the future.

But what happens when Logic 10 comes around ? There is no precedence on the App store for upgrade . And I got to tell you as a Long time Logic User I will jump ship if they expect me to pay full price every time out of the gate ...even if that price is now lower or not . Not trying to be all fashionable with the apple bashing , but I am seeing a different face to this Co .
