Will the ipad work in Germany?

My boss is scheduled for a trip to Germany later this month. He does have 3G capability on his ipad, but has not signed up for the data plan (with extra fee each month). He will be staying at a Hilton in Germany and per their website, it states that they have wireless internet. Does anyone know if the ipad will work in Germany and if he will be able to connect to their wireless? Is there any special details that I would need to let him know ahead of time? Thank you.

Yes, he'll be able to connect. Nothing special if he's used it to log in via a hotel service before.

He can also buy a prepaid data card (microSIM) to use it outside the hotel.

Be aware that free WLAN is in Germany not as common as it is for example in Austria.

That is a prepaid 3G data card (microsim or nanosim) that does NOT rely on SMS text messaging for balance control.

The iPad range can not receive or send SMS text messages by design - the cellular sim card is only used for making a 3G data internet connection.
