How is it possible to download my Word Perf files and open them on my Ipad 2?
Is there a way to download my Word Perfect files to my Ipad 2 and open them? Is there an app that would open them?

The last app listed is WordPerfect Viewer for iPhone and iPad. According to site:
No matter where you are, you’re always in touch with important information thanks to WordPerfect Viewer for iPhone and iPad. Read WordPerfect attachments and files downloaded from iTunes with a simple tap. Need to scan a document quickly? Use the search feature to find relevant sections by keyword.
Just a couple things about the subject of WordPerfect on the iPad:
Reading a .wpd (Word Perfect Document) that has been "made available" to the WordPerfect app is indeed possible.
But the proposition "No matter where you are, you’re always in touch with important information thanks to WordPerfect Viewer.." is patently false.
The only way to access any .wpd file is to have downloaded it ahead of time using iTunes on your Mac (or PC), or possibly have someone send it to you in an email.
So if you're out in the "real world" for instance in court, or a business meeting, or any other "mobile" situation you can conjure up where you do not have access to the document, and also to iTunes, you are basically out of luck.
I have successfully configured my WHS to provide secure access via web folders to my iPad.
I can connect and read PDF file seasily and successfully using GoodReader.
But I can't open a WordPerfect document in GoodReader, and I can't access the share from the WordPerfect reader.
Soooooo close.
Even at 6 bucks I feel ripped off by Corel on this one...
If you ever find a way that actually works (not just marketing blah, blah, blah, from some website) I'd really like to hear about it.
Seriously.
iPads and the apps that run on them can be wonderful devices when they actually meet user requirements.
FYI: annettefromlakewood asked (14 months ago) for an app to open WordPerfect files that are already on her iPad. The app mentioned (also 14 months ago) fits her requirement exactly.

Correct.
You also cannot use the iPad (thus any apps on the iPad) under water or in a blast furnace.

Okay, but nothing is mentioned about accessing files remotely.
When you want to access files, you have those files. Don't see why this is be a surprise.

Why would you go to court or a business meeting and not bring documents you need?
Methinks you are really out on a limb here.
The wordperfect files ARE on the iPad via a webfolder. I can see them. And I can open other file types (PDF files using GoodReader... ) available to my iPad.
I
I dont (really) want to use my iPad underwater (though I bet I could if I really though about it) or in a blast furnace (couldn't really read my email there either, I suppose...)...
But I want to use it in the cloud. and I want to use it in my work.
And I think the reason I use an iPad and iPhone like the rest of us in the "mobile movement" is recisely to access 9everything) remotely.
Maybe not you... but I'm willing to bet there are millions of us, and some of us want to access our documents, when we need them, no matter where we are... even out on a limb (if you will :-P )
Methinks you have nothing of value to contribute to this thread...

It is simple to access documents stored on the iPad, wherever you are.
You want to do something completely different than what this thread is about.
You want to access documents at a remote location and not stored on the iPad.
This too, is very simple.
TeamViewer app will allow you to access your computer remotely from the iPad and copy documents from the computer to the iPad.
Yes...I suppose that maybe my problem exceeds this thread.
I suppose I'll search for a better venue to discuss using my iPad beyond it's glorified iPod functionality.
Sorry to have interrupted your peaceful mediocrity.
There are dozens of cloud based solutions. Not clear as to why that is such a difficult solution. That there may be some issues with word perfect compatability isn't surprising. Seriously doubt there are many vendors that are willing to waste resources supporting it for iOS, considering Corel doesn't support any Apple OS as far as Word Perfect is concerned.
Well (James)... WordPerfect is a central theme of this thread.
Nut that aside, I have to say, I belong to many, many, forums, and this is by far the most negative exchange I've had in long, long, time. I would not have thought that thinking outside the box was beyond an Apple forum.
You guys are big thinkers, right?
I'm just looking to help my users do their jobs better.
Yes, like it or not, iPads are now in the work-force and we do weird things out there in the world.
A lot of lawyers use Word Perfect. Don't ask why.
A lot of lawyers are beginning to use iPads. We all know why.
My simple aim was to help them see their documents as easily as they can a PDF.
Maybe too lofty a goal...
Maybe not.
And yes, Corel should have some skin in this game too.
Check out the threads on this same subject on Corel's forum.
All-in-all this exchange has been personally exhausting and ultimately unfruitful...
Thanks.
Couldn't say why a lot of lawyers use Word Perfect (and not sure I entirely buy that the statement is true), but the bottom line is that there are not many iOS apps available that use the format, nor much motivation for many vendors to take on the issue. With the exception of Corel, of course, but I can't answer for them.
Sorry that reality reared it's head and prevented you from getting the answer you wanted.
At one point in history, believe it or not, WordPerfect was a contender...
Maybe lawyers are averse to change, or maybe it's the government institutions they deal with...
The reason is irrelevant, whether you know it or not, there is a need.
I've researched this enough to know that it doesn't work (well) and if you read my earlier postings you'll know I understand how "download" and "open" Wordperfect files. I've researched this to my ability and turned here for some fresh insight.
I find it interesting that any member of this (or any technical forum) would consider "reality" as something that is simply to be acknowleged and accepted.
For all his single-mindedness, his sheer determination and his ultimate (if not posthumous) success leads me to believe that Steve Jobs would not agree.
Luddites on SJ's forum... Who'd a thot ;-)

huh... Maybe I'm missing something in the exchange.
I'm looking to click on a Wordperfect file on my webfolder and have it open.
Because it is not something I suggested.
I don't know what "webfolder" is.
TeamViewer (an app for your computer and iPad) will allow you to access files stored on your computer and download them onto the iPad. You can then view them with the WP viewer.
Also, many cloud apps such as DropBox, allow you to store docs in the cloud and access them via the iPad.
Chris
Thank you up-front for thinking further into this. I was becoming extremely discouraged.
By "webfolder" I mean a WebDAV folder. I have a WebDAV server share on the WIndows side that I can see on the iPad.
I also have the Corel WordPerfect Viewer app installed on the iPad.
I just cannot seem to get the app to "see" the files on the WebDAV share, and I cannot figure out how to "launch" the WordPerfect app when I select a .wpd file from the share.
You are correct, this sounds simple, and I beleive it is...
I just can't get it to work.
I contacted this forum, using this thread (right or wrong) hoping that someone here understands and/or nows a solution to this.
I understand if it's beyond the members here, after all it's beyond me...
And I understand if the folks here think it's out-of-scope for this thread or the forum, or the planet...
But I'm still stuck with the problem and I could use some constructive help.
And (I beleive) the usage scenario is not underwater or in a blast furnace...
You got a crapload of points, I can't beleive you got them all based on answers you already knew...
I'm just looking for some help... any constructive direction would be appreciated.
Seriously.
Chris
At your suggestion I installed and figured out how to use TeamViewer and that app definitely does what I want.
So far it does seem like it requires the file to be downloaded to the iPad first, but once downloaded when I click on a .wpd file I can select WordPerfect Viewer to open it.
This is a huge step forward, thank you.
Is there an app that would open them?
You can find out by searching the App Store
