Migration - can I move a folder from opt (from old Mac) to opt on the new Mac?

Hello,

I just migrated my stuff on a new Macbook air. In addition, I migrated some material from another hard drive. Now I have two /opt and /opt (from old mac) folders. The latter only contains one folder. I want to know how I can move that folder from /opt (from old mac) to the new /opt. Can I just move it or is there a "proper" way to do it?
