This happened with my card slot just yesterday.

When the card did not mount, I shut down the computer and removed it (just in case).

I started up the MacBook Pro again, and again inserted the card, and again, it did not mount.

I shut down the Mac again, removed the card, and again started up the MacBook Pro.

When I inserted the card for the third time, it mounted just fine. "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again."

It worked for me.

The can of contact cleaner comes with a little "straw" that attaches to the nozzle of the can. Once you have the straw attached and the machine is OFF, place the open end into the SD card reader and give the slot a quick shot.

There is no need to soak the card reader, just the briefest on shots should be enough to clean the contacts inside the reader.

I have only had to do this once, that was about 2 weeks ago. My card reader has been working fine since then.
