SC Info error 1392....

I was prompted to update my iTunes when I plugged in my ipod (touch, 3 Gen). My itunes disappeared, and when I tried to re-install it I got the SC Info 1392 error. I checked earlier posts and did what was recommened, but I cannot re-install it no matter what I do, deleting the file, running disk check on my computer, I have tried it all on every possible google search as well. I continue to not be able to install iTunes.... Any ideas?
