Looking for help with error code -10660

I am helping someone with a Mac Mini running Tiger who is having the following problem:

When attempting to open a Word document by simply double-clicking the file name in the finder, you get the error "The operation could not be completed. An unexpected error occurred. Error Code -10660"

If Word is already open and you double-click the filename in the finder window, it opens without a problem, so it must have something to do with it knowing what program to use, but the file seems to be associated with Word.

I am trying to find information on this code and cannot. Also, the Mini is running Office 2004. Does anyone have any ideas or know what the solution is?

Try highlighting the Word icon and then select "Get Info" from your File menu. Go down below where it says "Open with:" and select your Word application from the drop down menu. Then click on "Change All.." below it. See if that works. If that doesn't work, you may want to try and rebuild your LaunchServices database with OnyX or Cocktail.
