Jan 24, 2013 11:11 AM in response to aag97by mteep,Aag97, I'm sorry to hear that my suggestion didn't work for you. To help others with this same issue, would you care to mention if something in your installation differed from mine? Like if you had purchased GarageBand from the Mac App Store, or if your version of OS X was different than 10.8.2.
Also, what happened when you tried my instructions? If you don't remember and have closed your Terminal window, you may find the output by re-opening Terminal.app. Additionally, there might be logs in Console.app that might explain why it didn't work for you.

Jan 24, 2013 11:48 AM in response to Chris Tuftby Switchblade,Chris,
I'd tried all the other detailed instructions here and no dice. Then used Command-R on the update page and Presto! I'll never know if this would've worked on its own but who cares. It was the final piece in the jigsaw for me. Thank you!

Feb 10, 2013 8:39 AM in response to grahamfrombristolby delgleli,I just tried everything listed on this thread except deleting GB outright, with no results. Then it occured to me that when I first got my Mac 27 I moved applications around into folders because when I opened the application list it was too large, so I created a folder called MEDIA and placed GB in it. Everything worked fine for the last few years.
Now in 2013 I'm trying to update the instruments and loops and nothing is working, so I moved garageband.app back into the application folder and presto, did a control-R in the software update window and it showed up!
I am not sure if the app being in a different folder was the problem but after trying everything, the move to the app folder and one more try worked.
Good luck!
Dave

Mar 1, 2013 2:21 AM in response to grahamfrombristolby andreywk,Cool!!! it was so simple, to solve this problem. Just press command + R or Store->Reload Page in App Store and "GarageBand Instumetns and Apple Loops" appear in Updates. "Dave" you are the best!
I suggest do not delete or reinstall anything, just press Download Late in GarageBand go to App Store and press Reload Page after the message that there nothing left to download. It's working!
Good luck!

Mar 1, 2013 11:24 AM in response to andreywkby CynthiaNPS,After I tried a couple of times to uninstall and reinstall Garageband and all the associated files, I still couldn't get the extra loops so I called Apple (I have 3 years of support so why not use it!). They told me that I wouldn't be able to download the loops with GB '11 (6.0.5) on Mountain Lion. Well, that was until I hit the Store->Reload Page!! It worked!! THANK YOU!!
Whoever I talked to at Apple clearly didn't know what they were talking about.

Apr 13, 2013 11:39 PM in response to dagonby dirtabd,To fix this problem, deleting all the GB files and indexes are the easiest way to go, dont bother with any of those other fixes as they dont work with GB 6.0.5

May 13, 2013 5:41 PM in response to mteepby chuPAULcabra,This worked for me! after weeks on with Apple support I finally tried this solution and BINGO!
I will say though at first I had doubts becasue Terminal told me that the install failed, however that triggered the app store to finally successfully download and install the loops.
Thanks so much for this suggestion Mteep!

May 18, 2013 7:21 PM in response to Chris Tuftby Manni79,Firstly thanks to Dagon for the tips
I tried this 3 times to no avail, everytime the app store would refresh for updates it said none were available.
I tried "Command R' to force refresh and after a couple minutes the garage band update turned up!!!
Try comand R if you have no luck
Thanks Guys !!
