Imovie 11 External hard drive

My Internal Hard Drive on my Imac is full and I need to movie my Imovie 11 clips and movies to an external hard drive. How do I do it and will it be seemless when I open imovie later when i want to use the clips or movies again

Connect the FireWire drive to your computer. Inside the iMovie Projects Library and Events Library you'll see your drives. Drag the items you want to move from one disk to another.
