IOS 4.3.3 battery life has been significantly reduced

After installing the update IOS 4.3.3 the battery life has been significantly reduced. I currently own and iPhone 4. This was not an issue prior to the update; battery life was great. Have any solutions been found? Has anyone else found this to be an issue?

iPhone 4, iOS 4.3.2

Do a hard reset on your phone - hold down the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together until you see the Apple logo. Let go and let the phone restart.

I have noticed (after trying every single thing on here), that my battery will not charge to 100%.

I plug it in when I go to bed, turn phone off, and today for example I woke up, turned it on and battery was at 97% after 9 hours of charging.

Some days it's 96% , some days 99% and I even think one time it was 100% for a minute or so.As for it jumping around when the phone is put into sleep and back on, YEP I have noticed that too.

Yesterday, I even managed to get 7 hours our of a full? charge. WOW.

I love my half baked, not so smart iPhone.

I'm considering getting a phone now that actually works with features you can turn on.

THIS IS RIDICOLOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a side note, anyone else notice that if you reboot the phone your battery percentage jumps around? Just before going this restore, my battery was at 95%. I rebooted and right afterwards it showed 86%, screen went black, and when I turned on the lock screen again it showed 93%. Strange.

That shouldn't happen, but can if the battery gauge calibration is off. You can recalibrate it by draining the battery fully, until the phone shuts off and won't restart, then charge for 4 hours with the wall charger.

All,

Has anyone else noticed this?

This morning I picked my iPhone 4 up off the night table ... where it had been plugged in for 10 hours while I was sleeping.

I looked at my email for a minute or two ... battery went from 99% (yes, this seems to be a full charge in the morning these days) , down too 97% in a matter of minutes.

I then went and looked at my usage screen .... Usage showing 4 hours 12 minutes and Standby time showing 6 hours 45 minutes. *** ?

This seems pretty screwy to me...

Thoughts ? I've done everything in this thread, with VERY mixed results.

Same here.....Ever since upgrade to 4.3.3 I went down from 10-12 hours to 6 hours a day on my normal usage habit....My phone get "hot" consistently and I loose 1 percent every 4-5 minutes it was getting horrid I had to remove the silicone case so that it cools off.....Here are all the things I did since:

1.) Turn on Airplane mode / turn off = didn't work

2.) I remove the apps that I installed after movin' up to 4.3.3 = didn't work

3.) I rebooted it 10 times and even rebooted while plug into iTunes as somebody mentioned = didn't work

4.) I reset the network setting twice = didn't work

5.) I reset the location warnings = didn't work

AND FINALLY......

6.) Remove Exchange (i'm on 2003) account, rebooted, and reconfigure it back.....and I still "feel" the lost so I let it drained off and shutdown....went home, plug it to the wall and it rebooted....this morning...TADAAAAA.....I was in tears to see that it is now discharging at normal rate and its not over heating anymore......YESSSSSSS!!!!!

One odd thing is that my usage time and standby time is equal......is that possible??????? Or do I have a background application that runs all the time but my friends have the same apps open his doesn't show the same figure......

I had the problem with battery for 1 month.. The problem appers when I updated my iphone to 4.3.3.

I tried all the way you suggested to fix the problem for example swith off everything (notifications,3g,wifi,emails ) i restored it back to the default settings .. but nothing changed.

2 days ago I update my itunes to 10 and I sync my iphone, today the problem fixed. (its not completly ok but seems to be much better than before its OK 1,5 days without charging)

I think every iphone can be fixed differently.

Possible Solution from h**p://w*w.iph*n*h*cks.*om/2011/04/improve-iphone-battery-life-by-disabling-pin g.html

Users are reporting that the issue is addressed after disabling Ping, Apple’s social network for music.

Apple had added a feature to enable push notifications for Ping in iOS 4.3 and also the ability to disable Ping via Parental controls.

So if you’ve noticed decrease in battery life after upgrading to iOS 4.3 and it didn't get fixed even after upgrading to iOS 4.3.1 then you can try to disable Ping to see if it helps.

You can disable Ping by following these simple steps:

Launch the Settings app.

Tap General, then Restrictions.

Tap Enable Restrictions.

Enter the passcode, which is required to enable restrictions (and to access it later). Please make sure it's something you can remember.

Toggle Ping to Off.

You can try this out if you’ve noticed a similar issue on your iPad and iPod Touch after upgrading to iOS 4.3.

i posted on here a while ago as i was experiencing similar issues to everyone on here. tried everything mentioned in the thread and nothing worked.

i phoned apple support (as iphone fairly new) and they suggested restoring the phoneso the phone was completely wiped and had nothing running on it. from this they could determine whether it was a hardware issue or software (as mentioned in previous posts). my phone was doing excatly the same thing when it was wiped. a simple phone call would drain the battery and make it roasting hot, battery was braining about 1% for every minute used even when not making a call.

rang apple back up explained the situation again and they said its definately a hardware problem and replaced the phone straight away. although i had to answer a load of questions about the overheating. health and safety i guess.

anyway, restored the new phone from back up and it's completely fine. moral of the story i guess is try a restore and see how it runs for a day with nothing on its. if it still does it, go back to apple as it is ahardware issue.

I believe you are on the right track. I believe that there are some instructions that were usually handled by the iOS that is now being handled by the app developers. What I did is that I restored my iphone 3gs to new after syncing contacts. ( I have 2 3gses so I know its not hardware) I then added all my apps to my phone and I dont allow push for any app except my email. My phone seems to be working now 3.5 usage and 12 hrs standby. I never got to restore my wifes but I did turn off ping and changed her email to manually fetch and she says its working better now. The way to tell if its working is to look at the standby time and the usage time. Usage should be lower then standby. My notifications and location services are all on.

I had the same problem as everyone else here. so frustrating. Based on everyone's advice, I tried 3 things, and at least one of them must have worked:

-turned off Ping (see BlackCastle from June 19th)

-turned mail to fetch from push

-wiped my exchange email and reinstalled (RobCrusoe from June 13th)

I'm relieved to have this problem behind me and I will be much more skeptical when apple issues updates in the future!

Peoples! Updates (such as all IOS 4) do NOT minimize or "Reduce" your battery life, as that is impossible. The update only drains your battery life faster, with these updates, more connection is made with the iPhone's to 3G or a Wi-Fi available area. The updates allow the iPhone to have a longer distance of a Wi-Fi signal and 3G range, as the phone will try harder to establish a connection to give YOU the result YOU want! Wether it is Internet, texting, calling, or even using the device, the iPhone is always doing background tasks that you CANNOT control or turn-off. This is something you will have to live with.

IOS 4.3.3 battery life has been significantly reduced
