Macbook pro connecting to Samsung Galaxy S smartphone

I have a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 with 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3, and Mac OS 10.6.7

I am having problems connecting my Galaxy S smartphone to the internet connection of my MacBook Pro. This is what I have done:

Turned the Airport on

Enabled Bluetooth connection

Enabled internet sharing

Enabled debugging on the Galaxy S

Have a working ethernet internet connection

Attempted to connect phone and MacBook via USB to synchronize the two devices, but no connection was established

The smartphone has recognized the MacBook Pro and is asking for a WEP password, however we cannot find a password that works. Our Apple ID password does not work, neither does the password that we use for log on purposes.

I am looking for help on one of two answers: 1) how to find my current WEP password, or reset it, 2) Or another route which will connect my internet from the MacBook Pro to the Galaxy S.

Any help will be truly appreciated. Cheers.

Hey,

Go to settings on the Mac, Sharing, Internet Sharing, Turn it on with sharing your connection with ethernet and select the airport box below, select the airport options button to set wireless name and password. Connect your Phone via its wifi.

This will let it share the Macs Interenet with the phone and youll know the password.

I have done this. I can successfully connect other apple device (ie. iphone, ipod) to my macbook pro via internet sharing, but not my smartphone, or other laptops running windows. I am pretty sure I am doing everything correct. I go to the sharing preferences, turn on internet sharing, and in my airport settings I have given my computer a name and a 40 bit encryption key. My Nokia N9 can see my macbook pro, but when I attempt to connect, enter the key, it returns with an error message saying something is wrong with the connetion. Please note that I have NO problems connecting my smartphone to my apple airport exress at home to use wi-fi. I have also tried this at school when I have wanted to set up a small network for students using laptops. They can all see me in their wireless devices lists, but NONE can connect

Hi,

Try turning off the security or use a lower encrytion method the 40 bit may be uncalatable with windows and your phone.

I have tried turning off security, so there would be no key or password required. I get the same error on my phone when I attempt to connect without encryption.

I have a real problem. when i connect my macbook pro to samsung lcd with hdmi, it always says "No Signal" on TV. and nothing is happened on my macbook. is there anybody here to help me?

You need to start a new topic - this one is for users of Samsungs Galaxy S smartphone - your problem is with your Samsung TV, I'm assuming. When you re-post, be sure and tell us what model MBP you have, what version of OS X you're running, and how you're connecting to your TV (rMBP HDMI output or mini DisplayPort>HDMI adapter).
