I have a new MacBook Air and tired to use the standard "copy" keyboard shortcut, shift-cmd-ctrl-4, to copy something. It seems to work, as I heard the camera shutter sound, but when I went to paste it into a Word doc, the content that was previously on the clipboard pasted instead. It wouldn't work in Excel either.
However, it DID save a copy of the copied image to the desktop. I must have some setting wrong... any ideas what this is?
The copy shortcut is cmd-c and paste is cmd-v. The shortcut you mentioned is to take a screenshot, hence it saving to the desktop.

Thanks guys. This is a brand-new MBA and the keys are in slightly different places.
(This MBA is SO fast despite a relatively slow processor, due to the solid-state drive. Boots up in about 15 seconds, apps open in 2-5 seconds... so cool!)
