Replacement hard drives

Hi

The 80GB HD of my ipod classic seems to sctratched (cant take more than about 8 gig without breaking).

Will any IDE 1.8" drive work? or are there specifics such as speed that need to match the original drive?

Yes. Any 1.8" ZIF drive should work. However, I would try and purchase the replacement part from a good known reseller.
