That was a very quick reply, Chris. Much thanks. I was referring to using the iPad 2 charger as a wall charger for the 160G iPod CLASSIC. I just saw another link on this in another group, but there was no mention of using that for iPod Classic. So, confirm I'm good to go? I mean, I do not wish to blow the iPod Classic by overcharging it, etc. Thanks again.

I just did an experiment that's baffling me and I wonder if you or anyone else can explain it. Charging an iPod Classic 80 with the following result:
USB to MacBook Pro: charges fine
USB to small iPhone wall adapter: charges fine
USB to 10W iPad wall adapter: does not charge
I've gone back and forth and gotten the above results predictably, also used two different 10W adapters, same story.
Any idea why?

Daven, I did the same thing with the 160G iPod classic. I charged it overnight using the iPad2 wall adapter/charger. Initially, the iPod shows it was charged, WHILE STILL PLUGGED in to the adapter/charger. But after UNPLUGGING, it's fine, and shows it's fully charged. See if this also applies to you.

No problem on the typo. I now have to let the iPod run down to test. What I take from your post of Jul 4, 11:35 pm is that maybe the iPad charger (10W, medium size white) will charge the iPod Classic without really showing the lightning bolt or any other indications that it's charging (which is what I see), but that the iPod ends up being charged. True?
If so, that's weird, but I guess it's an okay outcome.

Yes, Dave, that's what I meant. Let it charge overnight, and see if it also works for you. Yah, I know, it's weird. Initially I thought it wasn't charging too. But it did (after unplugging the cable). Maybe we should highlight this 'weirdness' to Apple.

Reset teh iPad and see what happens.
Press and hold Home and Power until you see the Apple logo (ignore the red Power off slider).

Confusion alert: we're talking about charging an iPod, so resetting an iPad doesn't apply here. Now, if you're talking about resetting the iPod so it displays correct charging behavior, that might make sense.

Chris/Dave, I just tried resetting the iPod Classic TWICE while connected to the power point. Didn't work these 2 times. Only worked when I connected it to the iMac, and did the reset.
So, Dave, Chris advice should work over your end too.

I have had no success charging an iPod classic with an iPad 2 charger. The iPod does not even recognize that it is attached to any power source. I'd sure like to see more details from people who have had success doing this because I don't know how they are doing it.
