I want to print 'borderless' on plain paper, but it doesn't give me that option. Any way around this?

Can your printer print borderless? If it can't you still will get white margins on the paper. The Page set up should show what options on non custom paper sizes you have included borderless versions. It is the Printer driver that supply that information.

4x6" is roughly 10 x 15cm and sounds like a photo printer.
I've never used those but suspect it may have the traditional white border built in.

If it is a photo printer the obvious I think will be to google the manufacturer's website and get the specifications on output.

I'm under the impression that Borderless Printing is a function of the Printer and controlled by the Printer Driver and there should be an option, maybe hiding (HP tends to do that) my Canon has a separate obvious selector for borderless. It would be helpful to know make/model of printer in question.
If your printer supports borderless printing, the settings will be in the Print dialog. The "border" setting (none, single hairline, etc) is not it. There should be more than one set of page layout settings, the standard one and one specifically for your photo printer. The one for your printer is the one you are looking for.
Set up a Custom page size in Print Set-up and set the borders to zero.

Peter, I know. Wasn't it obvious in my reply? I don't presume though which printer the OP has.
Now it is said three times, but it is called Page Setup setting and not Page layout setting. Sorry being picky but using the correct words makes it easier to understand.
