how do i change to landscape on pages for ipad 2
I am new to Pages and would like to be able to open a blank document in landscape mode on my iPad 2. Can't seem to find an answer anywhere.

pb,
Your question sounds basic enough, but as most of us here on the Mac iWorks forum don't have iPads, it's a tough one, for me at least. There's an iWork community within the iPad community where you are certain to find a good answer to that question. I'll take a guess though. If Pages on the iPad is similar to pages on the Mac in this regard, you will choose a template when you start a new document. The blank templates will be Portrait or Landscape in orientation. That's where you make the choice, at the very beginning. On the Mac, you can switch the orientation of a document in File > Page Setup, or Document Inspector > Page Setup, if you find you made a poor choice in the beginning.

Thanks Jerry. Therein lies the rub. On the iPad version of Pages there is no choice of orientation, only portrait. I managed to work around it by sending myself a blank word document in landscape and opening it with Pages. I just duplicated the document so that I will have a blank template in my documents.

pb,
I looked at the iWork for iPad documentation before answering and didn't find the words Portrait or Landscape, so what you say is consistent.
It sounds like you have developed a good workaround.

Great solution. Worked seamlessly for me. Thanks for figuring it out.
That worked sending myself a blank word doc in landscape format. Now I can do all I wants using Pages. Thank you for that clever fix. Hopefully Apple will come up with an update so all of us iPad users won't need to do that extra step.
How did you transfer the doc from word to pages? Did you use iTunes or emailed it to yourself?
When i emailed the doc attachment to myself,it came in as a dat file.
When i tried to transfer it from iTunes, it returned the error that it cannot read.
