I just downloaded the full version of Sparrow for Mac. First, it asked me to enter my name, email and password, I did that and clicked Create. It then asked me to enter an IMAP Server and Login. I don't know what to put for IMAP Server. And is the Login, the same email I entered in the previous step?

The IMAP server, and the login, will depend entirely on who provides your email address. Is it Gmail? Verizon? BTInternet? Each company will have a different set of servers. For example, for Gmail, you use "imap.gmail.com". Usually you can simply do a web search for "IMAP server" + your mail provider, and the answer should turn up. You can also check within the preferences of any Mail program that you already use (perhaps Mail on the Macbook?) and use the same server details. Make sure you check what the correct port number is, and whether or not you need to use SSL (secure login).
If you get email on your own domain name (eg bob@mycompany.com), you need to check with your hosting company to find out what server name to use.

So if I were to add a Hotmail or Yahoo account what would the IMAP server be.
EDITED: Hotmail's IMAP server is pop3.live.com and the port is 995 but I keep getting this message "Connection to the mail server could not be established. Either your connection is not available or the mail server is unavailable".

Actually, for Hotmail, don't use IMAP or POP. Use the "Microsoft Exchange" option you see when you first add an account. See this site for details.
For Yahoo, use the Yahoo mail account type you see when you click Add Account. It should set up the server names automatically.

There are no options to choose from. I just click on create account and this comes up IMAP Server, Login, Password, and Port. I have to fill each one to proceed. I happen to add my Yahoo account I don't know how it happened. I kept trying and then it just said "Skipping Step" and now I can read my Yahoo mails on Sparrow. I didn't have to enter an IMAP server or anything.
I even deleted my Yahoo account and re-added it to check if it happens again and it did. I just enter my name, email and password and when I click Next it I get skipping steps the next steps and adds the Yahoo account without the need for an IMAP Server. 😕
Why doesn't it do that for my Hotmail account?
So I've managed to add my Gmail and university's account as well. I enetered the IMAP Server for both and it accepted it straight away. Now the only thing I've yet to add is my Hotmail.
I have the same problem. At the moment there is no posibilty to add a Hotmail Account because Hotmail uses POP3 servers and Sparrow only supports IMAP servers. You will have to wait until an update comes. like me.
