How to turn off the login screen on iMac

I've read on other mac forums that I have to click on accounts and check "automatically log in to (user"), but no luck, I still have the login screen, anyone knows how to turn this off?, it used to login automatically and I was setting up the bluetooth on my Macbook Pro so I set it up to connect to my iMac, the next day when i turned on my iMac it had a login screen.

thanks,

chris

I'm not sure I completely understand the question. But, if you want to "turn off the Login Window," this will mean setting automatic Login. Go to System Preferences>Accounts>Login Options>Automatic Login. Right now it will be set to Off. Just select your user in the dropdown, which will enable automatic Login and you won't see the Login window.

These instructions are for 10.6. 10.5 may be slightly different, but close enough for you to figure out.

Just an update, I tried all the suggestion but non work, so I tried setting up a new admin user and went to System Preferences>Accounts>Login Options>Automatic Login and picked the admin user and it ask me if I want to automatically login and it saved my password, so I restart the iMac to login to the new admin and the computer boot up normally and automatically, while on the new admin user I created I went back to the System Preferences>Accounts>Login Options>Automatic Login and picked my old admin user name and it asked me the same question so it saved the password. Restarted the comp and it logs in automatically, for some reason my password wasn't saved that's why the login screen keeps coming up.
