how do I add a border to a cell in numbers

how do I add a border to a cell in numbers and the lines within a set of cells. How do I alter the line point - when I try the ppoint size will not let me do so. The help in Numbers is crap as when following the instructions it still does not work - has anyone else had problems. I have used the line in the format bar and also in the inspector. In the end I had to use Excel

As you didn't wrote which Numbers version you are using, I will respond upon Numbers '09

(1) As I wrote many times, the Help rely upon a list of indexed words. This list can't be infinite so we may easily be lost in searching something.

There are more efficient resources :

Numbers User Guide

iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide

(2) Searching in existing threads as we are urged to do in the Terms of Use, using the complicated key string

cell AND border

would have returned :

in which I explained with screenshots what to do to set borders.
