Xcode showing as installed but not

I downloaded the 4.5GB of Xcode on the App Store.

After the download, App Store said it had a problem with the install but I was able to retry and it said everything was fine.

Now it tells me that Xcode is installed but I do not have a Developer directory, the expected terminal commands are not available, and in the System Profiler I'm not shown Xcode in Applications and there is "No information found" in Developer.

While I didn't solve this, I had an "Install Xcode" file on another drive.

I bought a second hand Macbook 2009 which was already upgrade to Yosemite but i am not able to install XCode 6 on it using App Store. I do see Install button but it is disabled.

Machine Config : 2.13 Ghz Core 2 Duo with 4 GB RAM on it.

Color: White

Model: Macbook White 2009

Any suggestions over it ? Is XCode 6 not meant for old Macbooks ?
