In Mail, "always insert attachments at end of message" keeps returning to being unchecked, so the attachments appear in the body of the email. How do I force "always insert attachments at end of message" to stay checked?
I had the opposite problem - attachments were always appearing at the end of my messages, whereas I wanted to place them higher up. Your tip about making the appropriate selection when no new message window was open did the trick.
Make sure you are setting that option when you don't have any new message windows open.

Perfect. Was driving me nuts. I realized you need to do this otherwise non mac PC's would truncate everything after the attachment.
