I had the same problem too. Tried upgrading my 6 month old iphone 4 to the latest OS and it went in recovery mode. I can't seem to get out of it,. Tried a lot of things but it is adamant. I don't mind restoring it to previous or evem factory settings except I have a few pictures I woiuld like to save before. I did sync up my phone before this but not sure if I am set up for backing up photos. Can anyone please help. Can't call apple tech support because they suck and will charge for phone support after 90 days. It is their software that caused this problem.

Please HELP!

To get out of recovery mode, the best option in most cases is to use DFU.

1. Connect to itunes (no matter what is showing on the diplay - apple logo, recovery mode, blank screen)

1.a Probably itunes won't recognize the telephone, so just continue, if it does recognize, then just follow the onscreen instructions.

2. Try to turn off the phone, either by holding the power button alone, or together with the home button, if it does turn off (blank scree) continue, if after a few tries, it keeps coming back on (as happened with me) then just continue as it is

3. Press the power button for 3 seconds, now hold the home button (without letting go the power button), for 10 seconds (exactly), now release the power button while still holding the home button for more 10 seconds (or even less sometimes)

4. you computer will recognize an iphone in DFU mode, and itunes will instruct you how to do the rest

PS - you'll lose all data that you didn't backup !!

Good luck

Well, I took my phone to an apple store near me. They tried to get it out of recovery mode but it went into another kind of loop. They had no choice but to restore it and luckily for me everything was backed up before the phone went into recovery mode. Thanks to the wonderful helpdesk folks in Redmond, WA I have a better phone than when I went there, with all my stuff and photos intact and icloud.
