Sorting photos in iPad

It took some time but I finally realized what I was doing wrong in iPhoto when it comes to sorting the photos by Title. However, now it appears that the iPad changes the sort order when I transfer the photos to the iPad using iTunes. They are not completely out of order but a group of photos within the set will be out of order than the next group follows in line as a group but the group is out of order.

Try to explain. The title of my photos are a date in yyyy mmdd nn. yyyy is year, mm month, dd day, nn sequence number (01,02,03 of the same date).

2010 0705 01, 2010 0715 01,02,03,04,05,06,07,08,09,10,11,etc.The first photo is 2010 0705 01 but the next order is 2010 0715 09,08,07,06,05,04,03,02,01 and than the group 2010 0715 with a seq. number between 10 and 19 but in reverse order. It's as if iPad has a limitation of 11 characters in the title.

Does the iPad have any sort control or does it just take them in the order they arrive in???

In iPhoto the sort key was placed on Manual and the order of my pictures changed from in-order to in-order by group but out of order within group. So I sorted them into the correct order by yyyy mmdd nn.

Than I used iTunes to sync; results later.

Than I went to the computer where the file that I had imported to iPhoto was. Created a new empty folder and one-by-one copied files from the original folder to the new folder. Than imported this new folder into iPhoto and it came in perfectly; sorted by the entire file name with nothing out of order. Synced with iTunes; results later.

Than I junked everything and started over by changing iTunes to import the folder from my computer and NOT from iPhoto.

No matter what, they ended up in the same distorted order. Groups (yyyy mmdd) were in order but than out-of-order within the nn, usually in reverse; ie 09 08 07 06 etc.

iTunes is throwing them out of order and there is nothing to do about it.

Also having album sort problems with iPhoto on the iPad. I create folders on my Mac with photos sorted by alphanumeric names. When I sync with my iPad, they appear correctly in Photo as albums and the sort order is correctly retained. However, when I go to iPhoto, the albums are imported, but the sort order is not retained. It seems to me that the order reverts to the original date/time order in which the photos were taken. This is not always what I want, and it makes it impossible to use the Slideshow features in iPhoto, which are much superior to the version in Photo. Too bad, I hope this gets fixed.
