splitting long mp3 files.

hi,
i want to splitt long mp3,s .these are 2 hour mp3 and i know there are many mp3 splitters that splitt into 5 min or 10 min pieces,i want to it to splitt it in my way.these are compilation of songs that i recorded in a long file.i want to break these in to songs again.thanks

i mac g5,powerbook g4 12 inch,i pod mini silver. Mac OS X (10.4.3)

If you have QT Pro you can use copy and paste to put the segments you want together, then use "Save As" and give the result a new name. It will now have a QT .mov wrapper around the file but will not really be re-encoded. QT and iTunes should accerpt it fine but if you try to play it in a non-QT aware app it may not be recognized. If you have to have a real mp3 file try Audacity or one of the other sound editors. Alternately, you could convert to wave or aiff and then use iTunes to make it a real mp3. That, of course, may cause a little loss of audio quality.
