Preview v5.0.3 links in PDF don't work unless link text contains protocol even if backing URL has protocol defined?

I use Preview v5.0.3 all of the time now to view PDFs almost always without problem, but for some reason we have a PDF locally where the text on the page is part of the URL without the http:// (protocol) prefix, even though the backing URL created with Acrobat contains the protocol. This works fine in Acrobat Reader and apparently works in some versions of the PDF with Preview, however in some versions of the PDF (specifically the two we have shared in production), these links don't work in Preview unless you right-click on them to visit the URL.

I'm not suggesting that another PDF viewer should be used or that I want to use another one, because otherwise, Preview works great. But this really seems like a bug in Preview. Has it been fixed in a version I don't have yet, or is there an existing bug ticket for this?

Thanks,

Gary

I quit Safari, moved the AdobePDFViewer.plugin from that directory to the Desktop so it would not be used, relaunched Safari, and tried to visit one of the links on what are marked as page 6 and 7 (actually pages 8 and 9 of the PDF) in the Contacts section of the following file, and it still did not work: http://dukepass.oit.duke.edu/bluebook/pdfs/2011/BlueBook_Pratt.pdf

Appreciate any additional help you can provide,

Gary
