HBO Go and iPad

I'm having trouble watching content using the HBO Go iPad app.

When I login as a DirecTV user successfully, click Play on a video, I get "optimizing video quality" for 5-10 seconds and get sent right back to the main content page. The videos never play just "optimize..." and crash back to the main page.

I've re-installed the app twice as well as restarted the iPad (which is running iOS 4.3.3)

Some help is greatly appreciated.

I have an iPad Air 2 that works flawlessly with NetFlix and Amazon Prime Video, i stream to my home TVs with an Apple tv2. The problem is the HBO-Go app which has been a problem since i got it almost 9months now, it get s very few updates and it is really crappy, i am surprised it passes iTunes requirements. And my biggest problem is that whenever i ise hbo app this crashes my wifi, i have to go and turn off/on the router to get signal back up, this ONLY happens with the hbo go app when streaming to apple tv.

I wish I had some advice to offer to you both. I have the HBO Go app and it works flawlessly on my iPad - original, WiFi only version.

The only thing that I can offer as an observation is that you are both dish service customers. My service is through Comcast Cable. However, if It works on the iPhone, I can't see where dish service would have any bearing on it.

Exactly the same thoughts.

I'm offering this suggestion primarily because I can't think of anything else to do. I don't fully understand what the System Reset does but I've found that it cures many ills. It's easy, quick and harmless:

Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.

A System Reset does not remove any apps, music, movies, etc. nor does it cause any settings to revert back to default.

have you tried the hard reboot? I had the same problem with HBO GO when I installed it… I rebooted and it started working great!

Try doing a hard reboot of the iPad

1. hold the power and home buttons down

2. you will see the "swipe to turn off" screen come up... KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTONS

3. The screen will go black (turn off)... KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTONS

4. A white Apple logo will appear on the screen, now you can release the buttons. Left the iPad boot... should only take a couple minutes.

I 'm having the same problem as the original post. Rebooting does NOT fix the problem. Also, HBO GO works fine on my PC under the same log-in information which tells me its not a provider issue (i use Comcast/Xfinity). In addition, the Netflix app works prefectly fine on my Ipad which tells me it's not a ipad video play issue. Therefore, I deduce that it is an HBO GO issue?.?. Any thoughts here?
