External monitor hook up/usage while on Windows side of Boot Camp

How do I use/hook up an external monitor while running the Windows side of Boot Camp on my Macbook Pro? In the Control Panel > Display > Screen Resolution then click the drop down box for 'Display' and only one option is available: 'Generic Non-PnP Monitor on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter'. While this should generate alternative display options, I am stuck the generic one (even though my external monitor is correctly hooked up).

If anyone has or is experiencing a similar problem, please advise. Thanks!

MacBook Pro, Windows 7

You have to install the correct drivers from your OSX installation disc, you insert the disc while in Windows and the drivers will be installed.

'Generic Non-PnP Monitor on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter' is what you get when you don't install them.
