Best 3D modeling programs to use for Ipad/Iphone apps

Hello,

Fairly new to this industry and wondering what the best 3D modeling programs are for easily transfering a 3d model into an apple app. I currently use 3ds max and mess around with MAYA and Zbrush. I know for 3Ds max its a huge pain in the a** to convert the code over into an apple app. At the same time I might as well ask if these programs are also easily converted the same way into android apps (hope no hardcore senior apple representatives see this question XP!!) since apple's screening/filtering is pretty serious..... Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

What framework do you plan to use for the 3D work. I suppose the answer would be based on what the framework supports. Are you going to write raw OpenGL ES code?

Honestly I'm pretty new to the coding of apple apps. I was planning on developing a 3D model and then finding someone else to code it. I've heard of writing raw OpenGL ES code but isn't that the hard way around it? Is there a much easier way of converting the 3D models into an apple app without having to write such code? Since I'll probably outsource it, I'm looking for the easiest and hopefully therefore the most inexpensive way I can convert the 3d model. Since I haven't started it, I'm willing to try new programs... depending on which one would provide the easiest transfer into an apple app.

Since you want a multi-platform product, you should look at Unity3D, Shiva, Ogre etc. They support importing 3D models from various modelling packages. They and other frameworks give you much higher level abstraction than raw OpenGL, and is likely to be what your contractors are going to use. Just check out the documentation for these packages and decide. I am sure they support most of the popular modelling software, so that choice will probably come down to what you like best, and not what is easiest to export/import.
