No. It is "command" and "S" for Save.
Command + Shift + S is Save As also.
Just look to the right of the menu item and it will show you the keyboard shortcut.
The propellor looking symbol is on your keyboard, and is the Apple or command key, on both sides of the spacebar.
On the Mac, which originated all these shortcuts, we rest our thumbs on the command key and select the other letters or option, shift keys with our other fingers.
If you are coming from the PC you will soon get used to it. The control key is perfectly functional but we don't use it much. It is good for using with your own set keyboard shortcuts, for that reason. When Microsoft copied the Mac OS, they typically changed a basic detail like this, but often kept the same pattern. So substituting most PC control shortcuts with their command equivalent usually works.

For further reference;
No. Cmd+S does (in all apps)
As a rule of thumb if you've moved from Windows, substitute Cmd for Ctrl.
