Using Boss ME-25 with Garageband

I recently bought a Boss ME-25 multi effects pedal with the hope of being able to record using its USB connection in garageband. I've been able to do so but not without encountering a few problems:

1. I could only playback my recording through my amp and was not able to playback through my mac's speakers until after unpluging the pedal

2. I was unable to use the pedal's effects when recording

Does anyone have an ME-25 that they've successfully used in recording on Garageband or has anyone else has similar problems when hooking up their guitar through a MIDI?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

First your not using Midi your using audio over USB.

If you want playback or monitor through Mac (speakers) choose the correct output in Garageband > preferences > Audio Midi.

Don't know why you can't use the boss effects but you could just run a cable from a output on the ME-25 to the mac audio in. But check the boss manual seems like it should be using effects probably something you overlooked.

I tried changing the output in preferences but it still wouldn't playback while the unit was plugged in. Do you think I should call boss or apple for support?

Choose your input and outputs in garageband preferences. Input should be the boss.

Create a real instrument track. I'm guessing the boss will be a stereo stream so the track input should be defaulted to channel 1 & 2 stereo but check anyway. Don't forget to turn monitoring "on".

Make sure the track is record enabled and give it a try.

Yep, that's all it was. I had turned on the monitor before switching the output to the Mac speakers and after doing so all of the settings return to default. Simply had to switch monitoring back on.

I was wondering why my garage band program can't even reconize that I'm pliging in my BOSS. Please help!

I have the ME-25 and I have no problem plugging it to GB...

Just create a Real Instrument track...and on the little arrow select on the Input section the ME-25 and on the Output select the "System" and you will be able to hear from your Computer Speakers
