Apple TV 2 is stuck on the "setting calendar/date"-screen forever. Please help!

It sounds like you haven't got a proper connection to the Internet or that your router is blocking access to certain ports which are needed to set the time.

Have you recently added any security software or file sharing software or applied any updates to your router. Could you have recently started to get interference from other networks, have you noticed any other changes recently.

Mmmm, the fact that the issue is repeatable on another network is notable. Perhaps you might take the Apple TV into the store for further diagnostics.

I'm thinking the Apple TV will have an international warranty, I suspect they may not be able to replace it for you if need be, but perhaps they can test it and tell you what to do. It might be worth phoning them to ask.

You could also try restoring it using a micro USB cable and iTunes.

I had this same problem with mine and after changing it out at the mac store, it still didn't solve my problems. I was on th ephone for over an hour with tech support and we finally narrowed it down to the router blocking the ports it needs to communicate with the apple server. If you have an Apple TV generation 2, you will need to port forward the followiing ports; TCP 123, 3689, 80, 443, 53, and UDP 5353. I forwarded these and still have my firwall in place with no problems with my Apple TV now.

you'll need to refer to the manual for your particular router.

and i would bet that this IS your router or firewall that is causing the issue.
