May 14, 2011 10:57 AM in response to Robert Schoonover1by Robert Schoonover1,Maybe this is related to my issue with "FILL DOWN", but I notice that when I use "SORT" in the drop-down menu "CALCULATE", that the resultant box "RANGE" is blank -- no cells are listed. Or maybe it's as my Air Force buddy says -- "It's the ploglies!" (a modern version of the WW II "gremlins".)

May 14, 2011 11:54 PM in response to Robert Schoonover1by Barry,Check that Auto Calculate (at teh bottom of the Calculate menu) has a check mark beside it. If not, choose the item to toggle in 'On'.

Dec 21, 2013 9:01 AM in response to Barryby chitownclark,Where's the Calculate menu? My Numbers headings are: File, Edit, Insert, Table, Format, Arrange, View, Window and Help. And none of them seem to have a "Calculate" on their pull-downs.

Dec 21, 2013 9:43 AM in response to chitownclarkby Roger Wilmut1,This is because you are using Numbers. This discussion is about the spreadsheet module in AppleWorks, and is therefore in the 'AppleWorks' forum. If you need help with Numbers you should ask in the Numbers forum.

Dec 21, 2013 11:01 AM in response to Roger Wilmut1by chitownclark,Thanks Roger! Keep using AppleWorks....I LOVE that software. I wish Apple still supported it. Do you know where I could download a version of AppleWorks compatible with Mavricks (OSX-9)? I'm about ready to uninstall Numbers that came free with my new iMac....worthless and confusing.

Dec 21, 2013 11:10 AM in response to chitownclarkby Roger Wilmut1,I'm afraid that AppleWorks does not run on Mavericks (unless you want to install Snow Leopard Server in Parallels and run it in emulation on that). (And AppleWorks isnt available for download though it still may be able to buy it from an independent retailer or eBay).

Dec 21, 2013 11:33 AM in response to Roger Wilmut1by chitownclark,I have no idea what you're talking about. "....run it in emulation????"
Just take my advice: Keep your AW running as long as you can. Numbers trashes those beautiful, functional AW spreadsheets that print so well. And forget about maintaining a DataBase! All Apple offers now is this single, problematic spreadsheet program.
