Transfer of iPhoto Library to Aperture 3

I installed and ran the trial version of Aperture 3, and I attempted to import my iPhoto Library. I choose the option to leave the photos where they were, and 2 hours later, Aperture is still saying it is processing the data. The number of photos is listed as 4634. Is this normal? Should I let it keep working or attempt to quit Aperture 3?

MacBook, IMac, Mac OS X (10.6.2), 13", white, 2.1 dual core + 21.5", 3.06 Core 2 Duo

Never mind. After about 4-5 hours it finally stopped "processing". Is this normal when importing an iPhoto Library?

The amount of time Aperture takes to import an iPhoto library or update an Aperture library from a previous version depends on a number of factors. Size of the library, location of the library, system type, other activity going on on the system, etc.

4-5 hours is not outrageous many user report times much longer than that.
