mail smart folders

I have created a smart folder and it appears to work as advertised but I get two copies of the emails, one from my 'inbox' and the same email listed from 'all mail". Naturally I only needed the one from my inbox. Any ideas welcomed..

You don't have two copies. You have one copy listed in two places. A Smart Mailbox simply lists messages that meet its criteria. All messages listed in a Smart Mailbox are actually in a regular mailbox somewhere. By excluding the Inbox, you are omitting those, but the messages you still see are still in some other mailbox. Be sure you understand that if you delete or move a message in a Smart Mailbox, you are doing that to the only copy.
