How to transfer hotmail contacts to iPad

If you set up Hotmail on your iPad using Exchange ActiveSync, you can sync your contacts and calendar. This should be the easiest way to get your Hotmail contacts on your iPad.

Here are the step-by-step instructions:

1. Tap on Settings. Under Settings, click on “Mail, Contacts, Calendar”.

2. Tap on “Add Account” in the Accounts page.

3. Tap on “Microsoft Exchange” to configure Hotmail access.

4. Enter your full Hotmail email address (e.g. example@hotmail.com) in both Email and Username fields. Leave Domain blank. Enter your password. In the Description field, enter a name, e.g. Hotmail.

Please note that you may have to wait a few seconds after step 4 before the 'Server name' field appears.

5. Enter m.hotmail.com for the Server name.

6. If access succeeds, you will see a new screen where you select the data to sync (Mail, Contacts, Calendar).

This works great as long as you chose Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft Hotmail to set up. I've used "Other" to install Hotmail as a pop3 in order to manage the emails like I want. When I delete from the iPad, I want the messages to stay on my PC and vice versa. The only way to accomplish this is to configure as a pop3. But now I can't figure out how to get my contacts onto the ipad.
