How do I stop inappropriate websites (and MacProtector alerts) from popping up. Just started today. Do I have virus?

I'm sorry that my telling the OP - who does not seem to be you unless you are posting from two accounts - that s/he does not have a virus and that they would benefit from reading the very informative website of one of our own who has spent a lot of his time researching this trojan, seems to have upset you.
