Q: personal hotspot in iphone 4 is missing

Go To Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network -> Fill out Internet Tethering Setting

Internet Tethering Setting is Generaly same as of Cellular Data Settings

APN:

Username:

Password

this is provided by your network provider. I use Telenor Pakistan. My settings are APN: internet , Username: Telenor (Case Sensitive) Password: Telenor (Case Sensitive)

Restart Your iPhone

Personal Hotspot will be there.. ENJOY!!!!! i hope problem solved

I had the same problem and found the solution. At least for my iPone 4. I was using a program called ONAVO, with installs a certificate on the iPhone to enable data compression. Just remove it and the personal hotspot option shows up.

Remove the ONAVO certificate if you are using this program and you´re done. That solves my personal hotspot missing.

Go to Settings tap on General then tap on Cellular and you'll see Personal Hotspot tap on it then turn it on. Go back to the Settings screen and you'll see Personal Hotspot on there. Thanks.

I did all this, but the Personal Hotspot was still missing. Than I did two things:

- I turned off and on the Cellular Data

- I turned on (it was off) Data Roaming

(Both are in General -> Cellular)

After thar, Personal Hotspot was finally added to my General menu.

Great, this solved it for me!

Personal hotspot will appear in the network menu or in the settings menu, but it will only appear when you turn on cellular data and 3g.

Only in ios 6 personal hotspot will appear in menu settings even if cellular data and 3gs are off but you cannot use (you can not toggle it on/off because cellular data and 3g are off).

ok so i have looked through this thread and tried most things now and still no help.
its an iphone 4 os is 6.1

i have made sure that cellular data 3g and data roaming is all on. i have reset my phone. i have restet my network settings, nothing will give me the personal hotspot menu on the first settings page. all i have is the one in cellular, when i click it all it says is go to this web page, follow the link it just tells you how to set up a personal hotspot using the hotspot button on the first settings page .... the button i do not have.

If personal hotspot is missing by updating or changing ur APN adress ... just restat the Mobile data network personal hotspot will be appear when turn on ur mobile Data

setting ->general ->Mobile Data (or) Cellular Data -->Mobile Data Network ---> Then Reset

                    Dont Worry about unlocked phones i will reset only the Data so no network changes

Hi all the new ios requires you to activate personal hotspot before it is available in settings

its easy as 1-2-3

Settings----->General------>Mobile Data ------->Personal hotspot !!!!!!!!   turn on

@fred121 Oddly enough, the option was available under general settings but disappeared after I went over my data limit, haha. Anyway, your instructions just worked for me. Thank you, sir!

Just try this method
   1.) First Go to Settings > General > Network and turn On your 3G and Cellur Data

   2.) Turn On Roaming if Needed

    3.) Now Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network
   4.) Now You are Done

    5.) Now Go to Settings > General Network  and Turn it ON

I had the same issue and solved it by going into Settings>>General>>Cellular>>. your Cellular Data and Enable 3G options should be on; well, turn them off and back on again, your Personal Hotspot Menu should show on your main screen again.

P.S.: before trying the above, my Carrier advised that I should reset the iphone to default... tried that but it didn't work. So I recommend just trying the above! ; )

What I found works is to follow the instruction that eveyone is recomending..settings, general ..reset netwrok settings BUT one key THING TAHT MADE THE DIFERENCE FOR ME WAS TO BE ON THE  INTERNET /WIFI WHEN DONIG THIS NOT WHEN ON THE CELL PHONE SERVICE.  HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU.
