How to see file extensions of songs in iTunes album?

Let's say I want to create MP3 versions of all the songs in an album (the originals might be AIFF format). The new versions of the songs appear in the same iTunes album with the same names. I then transfer them to my iPod or other device, and want to remove them from the album in iTunes. How can I view the file format of the songs in an album so I can quickly select all the MP3 versions to delete them?

Use the iTunes View Menu. Select "as List". Then select the View Options and add a column for "Kind?" Your MP3 versions will show up as MPEG Audio. To speed things up even more, Go back to the View Options and add a column for "Date Added". Select that column and all the songs you converted should be at the top of the list.
