I'm trying to change my country region, but itunes won't allow it until my movie rentals are expired, but i have no un-expired movie rentals. What should I do?

I have the same problem. my movie rental is already expired and it should've not interfere anymore with the attempt to change the country/region of the app store... it's been days since my rental expired but to no avail, it still won't let me change my country/region and still show the same message "iTunes can't change the country/region because your rental has not yet expired" or something like it. Anyone who can help us?

I had the same problem. Apple support said I had to wait 30 days (even though the FAQ on rentals clearly states it expires 24-48 hours after watching). This was a real problem for me a I needed to install an app on my iPad that could only be installed using a non-USA store (NFL Game Pass).

The workaround solution was to create a second Apple ID and set it up with the non-USA store (in my case Germany). I then changed to my non-USA store, installed NFL Game Pass (international version) and then signed out. When signing back in with my original ID, the app was installed and working. Its a pain, but the only solution for now.

Apple needs to make it clear on rentals that you cannot change stores for 30 days after purchasing it. This will kill most of their rental business, for sure I won't rent again.

I've just come across this problem, having moved from UK to Australia. I find it strange that nobody seems curious as to WHY you have to wait 30 days. What possible reason can there be, other than Apple thinking up new ways to be annoying? The movie in question was watched instantly and then disappeared from my iTunes, as expected. If you've rented a movie and don't get round to watching it inside 30 days that's your lookout, isn't it?

I contacted Customer Service and got the usual cheerfully robotic reply, which included this gem: "I do apologize for the inconvenience and I can certainly understand how you feel, however, this is an Apple policy that we all need to follow."

In other words, we're all in the same boat because Apple says so, and the reason why is none of your business...
