How do I remove folder action for folder that doesn't exist?

Look for the script in the Scripts folder located in the /Library/ folder. Delete the script. You may need to restart the computer.

Did you restart the computer? If not there may still be a process running. You can look for the process in Activity Monitor as well as kill it using AM. It's also possible that installing a folder action also installs a launch agent or daemon, so check inside those folders in the /Library/ folder and the /Home/Library/ folder to see if one is there that is associated with your old folder action.

Unfortunately, the normal way of uninstalling a folder action requires the old folder to which that action was attached. I'm not sure just what OS X does when it creates and attaches a new folder action, so you may need to hunt around to find out if there are remaining pieces of it that still need to be removed. A good search tool for this is Easy Find - MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.

Try looking in the following folder:

~/Library/Applications/Folder Actions

[~ is your user directory]

Let me know whether you found any solution other than the 'stubborn' solution. THis is really a pain in the but b/c it is very difficult to configure any folder action now that I have changed servers.

This is what I am up against (maybe this doesn't make sense). There must be a file somewhere within the operating system that describes all the folders to which folder actions are attached to. If there were no such file, then removing the directory would correspondingly remove the folder action (but it doesn't work that way).

Does anybody know whether (and where) this mystery file exists?

I SOLVE MY OWN PROBLEM!!

Go to Home/Library/Scripts/Folder Actions.

Then Click on Remove Folder Actions.scpt

This will launch the apple script editor

The click 'Run' and follow the dialog

FINALLY THEY ARE ALL GONE!

Interesting, I guess the folder actions are placed as a function of the kind of action being performed. Mine went in ~/Library/Applications/Folder Actions as I mentioned earlier.

mine were placed in ~/Library/Workflows/Applications/Folder Actions

After removing a NAS with several folder actions on connection I would get the dialog box that the server was not available and I was unable to unselect the folder actions created. This is the most correct action to take....thank you.

Same problem, a 'strange' hassle.

I found my unwanted folder actions at: ~Library/Workflows/Applications/Folder Actions

With this method, you can select a folder to remove any of actions attached to it. HELPFUL....
