I have a powerPC G5 and can't run the latest version of Abobe flash player but need it for facebook. What can I do?

Facebook games are requesting Adobe flash player 10.3 but when I try to install it is says not compatiable with PowerPC. I have a PowerPC G5 mac running MAC OS 10.5.8. Is there any way around this (apart from buying a new computer!!)

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Facebook continues to run fine for me.

You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25 or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform.

* Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. The first one on the list, Flash Player 10.1 is the one you download. More information here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html

I am pretty sure that there was a "last version of 10.2" that was PPC compatable that you can get from here. You should at least update to the latest, last version of the PPC version. A search of adobe should reveal what that last version was...

EDIT: ok, I was wrong. last version was 10.1

The Adobe Flash Player 10.1 release will be the last version to support Macintosh PowerPC-based G3 computers. Adobe will be discontinuing support of PowerPC-based G3 computers and will no longer provide security updates after the Flash Player 10.1 release. Support is being discontinued because of performance enhancements that cannot be supported on the older PowerPC architecture.

This was last version:

flash Player 10.1.102.64

Thank you. This was helpful. I installed 10.1 and it now works with most things, but it seems some content still needs the latest version of flash player, that is not supported by PPC's.

Get a newer Intel Mac, else you will be incompatible as long as you use your outdated computer. Technology moves on, it wont freeze only for some rare machines still in use.
