Jumpy Bluetooth Mouse

I've got a 2010 13.3" MacBook Pro which I have recently been using in clamshell mode (with a 22" display, bluetooth keyboard, mighty mouse and magic trackpad). I seem to be having the same problem talked about in other forums:

Since plugging my MacBook into a Dell 22" display the mouse has been very erratic and jumpy when transferring data over airport. It was so bad that I ended up getting a Magic Trackpad, although this also exhibits the jumpyness although due to the less precise nature of a trackpad it is less noticable. I checked just now unplugging my laptop from the display and downloading a large file while using my bluetooth mouse and I had no issues, it is only when plugged into the external display.

I've tried some of the methods described in the linked to threads, such as resetting PRAM and it hasn't helped. It is incredibly frustrating as when there is network traffic you cannot use the laptop with any precision. Has anyone been able to solve this issue? I could ring Applecare or go to a Genius bar but I would likely have to take the display as well which would be difficult.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
