I tried my iphone 3GS with Griffin, Incase, and iMesh cases and to be honest i dont like the feel of the phone in a case. I think in my opinion that the phone works best without screen protection and a case....
What opinions do you people have on this ever long discussion? 🙂
iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.3.2
I use my iPhone 4 naked and also did so with my 3Gs (which is now used as an iPod Touch). I bought slipcases for them when carried in my pocket (Sena cases - Kutu leather slip case) so they don't get scraped against any keys, coins or my pocket knife when carried, but to use them, they pop out of the slip case. My 3Gs is over two years old now, used daily until I got the iPhone 4 (my cell phone is my only phone), and looks just fine - no screen marks at all, and no scratches on the back.
I do go back and forth with using a screen cover (boxwave's antiglare ones) because they do seem to make it a bit easier to read the screen outdoors in sunlight, but they can also be annoying. So, my iPhones have probably spent at least half or more of their lifetime without one to no ill effect.
To be honest though, as long as the screen doesn't get marred, I really do not worry if the backs get a scratch or two. It's a phone, not a piece of pricelss art, and I also do not worry about re-sale value. I upgrade only when I'm eligible for a discount on the latest device, and my old one either continues to get used for something (like my iPhone 3Gs as an iPod Touch) or donated to a charity or re-use program.
A lot of people put a lot of time and effort designing a phone as slick and thin as can be - why would I want to make it fatter and uglier?
I make sure nothing else is in the same pocket, and don't worry about the inevitable tiny scratches on the back. The screen is fine, after just over a year of daily use, and couple of drops from desk height.
I think the same mate, the phone is there to be used! I dont see the point in covering up a nice phone!
I've used my iP4 since launch day and it's still like new.
I too don't like the plastic/rubber type cases that cover the back, sides of the iPhone.
All I have to protect mine is a leather slip in case. When it's in my pocket and I need to use the iPhone, I just take it out of my pocket and push the iPhone out of the leather case and use it like that.
The thing I like about leather slip in cases is that they cover the back, front, sides of the iPhone, but it's quick and easy to get the iPhone out when you need to. The rubber/plastic type cases are good, but none of them cover the screen. I got a leather slip in case from Ikonic Edge. They do worldwide shipping and the quality is absolute first class/ top rank.
